KANSAS CITY, MO, September 12, 2016 -- The National Federation of Independent Business, Missouri's leading small-business association, has endorsed State Representative Kevin Corlew in the 2016 general election for the Missouri House of Representatives.
The endorsement was made by NFIB/Missouri's SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members. These members from across the state believe that Kevin Corlew will be an effective representative for the more than 8,200 NFIB members in Missouri.
"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, creating 7 out of every 10 jobs," Corlew said. "I have consistently supported and sponsored legislation to create an environment where small Main Street businesses can succeed and create more jobs.”
Corlew also said that he is planning to sponsor legislation next term that will let Missouri entrepreneurs and small businesses raise capital through crowdfunding. “As I have visited with entrepreneurs, I’ve often heard them express that access to startup and growth capital can be difficult. This legislation will remove barriers and open a door for small businesses to use modern platforms for funding success.”
First elected as State Representative in 2014, Corlew is running for re-election in Missouri House District 14. District 14 is located in the heart of Kansas City’s Northland area and includes portions of southeast Platte County and southwest Clay County.
In his private-sector work, Corlew is an experienced attorney who represents clients in business disputes. He is a member of several area chambers of commerce and has served on strategic task forces to promote economic development in the Northland region.
